I know that the original issue of the Redskins live album on the Dojo label is now quite hard to find. But I think that Amazon are taking the piss a bit with their price - Clicky

Are the tracks on the Mad Butcher release the same as the Dojo ones? What happened to Dojo are they not around anymore? Was it Redskins that let Dojo release the live cd or was the recording own by London Records?

Are the tracks on the Mad Butcher release the same as the Dojo ones? What happened to Dojo are they not around anymore? Was it Redskins that let Dojo release the live cd or was the recording own by London Records? The tracks on the Mad Butcher one are just the same as the Dojo release. The only difference is that the artwork and sleeve notes have been updated and the spelling mistakes corrected as Keep On Keepin' On is listed as Keep On Hanging On on the Dojo release. The new sleeve was designed by Martin Hewes girlfriend and the CD was originally supposed to come out on the Ghetto Rock label. Martin's girlfriend was paid by Ghetto Rock for the artwork but the Redskins never saw any money off the Mad Butcher release, they didn't even pay the songwriters fees. That doesn't surprise me as I've also been ripped off by Mad Butcher and know of quite a few other bands who have as well. The Mad Butcher release claims that all the tracks were recorded at the Polytechnic of Central London on the Redskins Kick Over Apartheid Tour. However, I have a bootleg of that gig and know that some of the tracks are taken from different gigs. Martin Hewes gave Dojo the tapes to release, most of them came from the Polytechnic gig as these were recorded at the time by a mobile recording studio. At the time they couldn't release a few of the songs from the encore from Polytechnic gig due to legal reasons as they featured Jerry Dammers, Billy Bragg & Alexi Sayle. The tracks played during the encore were Kick Over The Statues, Tracks Of My Tears, People Get Ready, Back In The U.S.S.R. and Skinhead Moonstomp. Dojo never returned these tapes so I have no idea where they are now. Dojo aren't around anymore but 2 of the people involved with Dojo are still involved in the music industry. Lol works for the Moon Ska Europe label and Mark Brennan runs the Captain Oi!/Captain Mod label.
