An English record label have been in contact with me and seem interested in putting out a Redskins DVD. It's early days yet but I'll keep everyone up to date if anything happens.
The same label are also looking into reissuing Neither Washington Nor Moscow possibly with bonus tracks and including The Crack which was missed off the last CD reissue. If they get the go ahead it would be nice to see the album reissued next year as it will be 20 years since the original release.

Does anyone have any good live footage of the Redskins which could be included on the DVD? By this I mean any shows filmed by the venue or non tv sources.

there was a video collection years ago. do you have a copy of this? You mean the Redskins Rarities bootleg video? No, I've yet to see a copy. But I've heard that the quality is pretty poor. I think I'll of got all of the stuff on it though on SVCD unless it includes the Redskins French TV appearances.

Do you have any more information on this video? As I thought the only promo videos they did were for the singles - Keep On Keepin' On, Bring It Down, Kick Over The Statues & It Can Be Done. Then there was also the Beating The Blues video which was recorded live in January 1984.

Although I don't think Martin will have a copy of the video. As I think he put all the Redskins stuff he had onto video disc for me and the earliest video on it was the Keep On Keepin' On promo.

Chris gave it to me at the time of lean on me but I have lost it over the years. Martin might remember it? This is what Martin had to say about the video - "Jon Langford did not direct a Redskins video but did come and help us out when we made a video for Peasant Army, our first single. The video was done by Chris's sisters boyfriend who was an art student in Newport, Wales. I think his name was Will Harvey. I don't have a copy and probably it is only Chris who has one. To clarify, we never made a video for Lean on Me and Can't Stand the Boss was never recorded or had any type of video made for it except the inclusion in Beating the Blues." If anyone has a copy of this video I'd love to see it.

Hi Bazza, any news of this DVD ? thanks for the answer I don't think we'll ever see a Redskins DVD that's why I've been putting most of their stuff on YouTube. Insurgence Records from Canada have been given to go ahead to release the 'Beating The Blues' video on DVD which originally came out in 1984 and features 5 songs recorded live at The ICA in London and interviews with the Redskins & Billy Bragg. Insurgence Records also have 4 studio recordings of the pre-Redskins band No Swastikas. This is the second line up of No Swastikas which includes Chris Dean, Nick King & Martin Hewes in the line up. However, last time I spoke to them they weren't in a rush to release it. The last time I spoke to Martin Bottomley about the DVD and he said he doubts very much if it will ever get released. Cherry Red Records from England would also like to put out a Redskins DVD. But they are looking for good quality video footage of the band from fans as they don't want to licence stuff from TV companies as it is too expensive. Cherry Red are also hoping to re-issue the Redskins album 'Neither Washington Nor Moscow' along with some bonus tracks that have never been released on CD before. But have been waiting for over a year now with still no reply off Universal Music who currently own the rights.
