I've decided to have a decent go this weekend at the difficult verse in Lev Bronstein. I've always sung along with it in a sort of pidgin making noises to fit in with the lyrics that I'm unsure of, of which there are plenty. The first line ends with something about "talk about"; the second line is something like "obeyed that truth like I did but it was never there, it was never there" and the third line says something about a "desperado" but that's about all I've got so far. It's on the turntable at the moment and I've got it on the ipod for when I do the lawns tomorrow (summer is coming here in NZ, yay) and on the CD player when I'm painting the bathroom on Sunday. I'll keep you posted.... Derek. BTW, I thought for years that the chorus said "I knew a girl" rather than "are you going" so don't put too much faith in me...

Good luck with the lyrics. I've tried before but never been able to work them out. I even asked Redskins bassist Martin Hewes one time but he couldn't remember them. He told me that he thought the lyrics were on the cover for the single as Martin only has a test pressing of 'Lev Bronstein' which has no sleeve. But there's only part of the lyrics on there.

Try as I might I can't add anything to what I've said above. Chris' vocals are so, um, unique on this track that deciphering them has proved an act of futility. I'm just going to continue to sing along making noises at the right times. Unless anyone else is brave/clever enough to have an attempt Lev Bronstein will remain untranscribed.
