To try and stimulate some kind of real political debate what do Redskins fans think about the 'hostage' situation, especially regarding latest revelations about torture and cruelty to the 15 British sailors. And what about the dead soldiers, where is their publicity?

Blair came on TV immediately after the sailors were freed, criticising the Iranian regime and the "insurgent" activity in Iraq. The fact is, British troops are in the Persian Gulf region purely and simply because of Blair's dogmatic obsession with Bush's Neo-Con Crusade. As a Redskins fan and (pragmatic) revolutionary Socialist, every developing news event can be vindication in the arguement to GET THE TROOPS OUT! No more working class squaddies fighting Rich Men's Wars!!!

I used to live in Iran and was over there during the revolution back in the late 70s. I remember America selling arms to Iraq during their war with Iran. There are also claims that America sold the chemical weapons that Saddam used to gas the Iranian troops during the war. Why was he never put on trial for this?
I don't think it will be too long before we see America & the UK invade Iran. I don't think it will be over the nuclear weapons. But more to do with the fact that Iran is the world's fourth-biggest producer of oil.

Every day now, there are stories of gang-type murders in London and other large cities in the U.K.; the police run around in the aftermath without a clue and yet (British) heavily armed troops are patrolling Basra "keeping law and order"! I'm not saying, for one minute, that we should have Belfast-type armed street patrols in North London: but the alienation that these kids feel could surely be avoided with investment at a fraction of our "defence" budget. Unfortunately, oil and the interests of (big) buisiness are the prioirities of western free-market capitalism. What we need is POWER TO THE MILLIONS-NOT THE MILLIONAIRES!!!!

I have a friend who was a victim of Saddam, got his legs blown off as a kid.I think you are right Bazza, oil is the key to all the evils in the regions just now, and Blair is a bigger bastaad than Thatcher. At least we knew where we stood with her.
