It was a top gig at The Sage in Gateshead last night.
The Dap-Kings looked well smart all suited & booted & Sharon Jones sounded just like Aretha Franklin. The band also included a great cover of Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" in their set. Sharon Jones also had a go at George W Bush & his response to the devastation caused by hurricane Katrina before launching into "What If We All Stopped Paying Taxes?".
If anyone gets the chance, get yourself along to one of the remaining dates on her tour. As I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.
