I'm reading the japanese version of the book entitled "Paul Weller: My Ever Changing Moods" by John Reed now. It's a great book. Also, I'm so glad that I found the name of Red Skins related to a charity concert for coal miners on that book. www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0711988668

I've read a few books on Weller & The Jam but haven't got round to getting that one yet. Have you read The Jam: A Beat Concerto by Paolo Hewitt? As there is a NME record review in that book for The Jam album "Dig The New Breed" which is written by the Redskins X Moore. I seem to remember that he mentions about 4 or 5 Redskins songs in the review.
Nice to see the Redskins get a mention as most people seemed to have missed them out in the articles and tv shows about the miners strike. When people like Billy Bragg, The Style Council and even Wham got mentioned about the benefit gigs they did for the miners.
Still, they do get a mention in the book "Born Under Punches" which is a fiction story set during the miners strike.

Yeah, we also have the Japanese version of "The Jam: A Beat Concerto" by Paolo Hewitt. I'll try it next time. John Reed also mentioned about "Red Wedge". And Chris Deen (Frontman of Redskins) who was known as X Moore on the NME and was a member of SWP complained about "Red Wedge". John Reed said these bands were called as "Agit Pop". Here's my review of "Paul Weller: My Ever Changing Moods" by John Reed: freehost04.websamba.com/dollq/foreign/books.htm#paul_weller

Instead they played a gig under the title of The Redder Wedge Tour as they didn't want to be associated with the Labour Party who set up Red Wedge.

Are some of those reviews in Japanese and some in English? As the text for a few of the reviews does not show up for me.

Yes, you need to download and install a Japanese language support component to see those reviews in Japanese. Or those are looked like squares. Sorry. Some part of those reviews are written in Japanese. It's all about Japanese books on the British youth cult and the English football (Hooligans).
