I'm a bit late for Bazza's posting on the four year anniversary of Strummer's death, so I thought I'd start a new thread related thereof. I haven't explored his post-Clash stuff, though I love both the soundtrack and movie of "Walker", but I am a HUGE fan of his work with The 101'ers. In fact, I have been exploring a lot of the pub rock of that era. Any other fans of Eddie & The Hot Rods, Dr. Feelgood, Count Bishops (YES!!!) Jook, etcetera want to chip in their two cents?

I have the 101's stuff but must admit that I play it the least out of all the Strummer stuff I have. Never really got into the pub rock scene but I do rate Wilko Johnson from Dr Feelgood and love this clip of him on stage. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRQ0N-dW0F0The clip also features Norman Watt-Roy on bass who ended up playing on about 12 tracks on The Clash album 'Sandinista'.

The Jook! "Factory Floor" (right title?) was a great song.

That's them. I only have a tape of some of their stuff but apparently there is a reissue out there somewhere. MOJO did a "Roots Of Punk" issue that may have stirred up some interest. The guy who ran Chiswick records referred to them as "The thinking skinhead's Slade".

Very interesting interview. I like to think of Pub (or whatever term you want to call it) as real working mans music.
