The American socialist mod band the Strike? I was looking to carry their (the Redskins) Neither Washington Nor Moscow or Live in 85 releases. That's them. They sounded like The Clash mixed with The Jam. I've posted a video of them on YouTube - Shots Heard 'Round The World - The StrikeTo stock Neither Washington Nor Moscow you would need to contact Universal Music. Good luck as they've never replied to my emails or Cherry Red Records who have been trying to licence the Redskins tracks for over a year now. To stock the Redskins Live album album you would have to deal with that twat Mike at Mad Butcher. Having been ripped off by him myself I would advise you not to have any dealings with him at all. The Redskins aren't making any money off the Live Cd he put out, he didn't even pay the song writers fees.

Like I said before, I rather work directly with individual bands, with Insurgence Records being the lone exception.
As for the Strike, I found their "Shots Heard Around the World" for a penny on amazon.com but I'm having a hell of a time finding their "A Conscience Left To Struggle" cd. Maybe one of these days I'll come across it.

If you are looking to stock Redskins stuff you should get in contact with Insurgence as they did have plans to put out a Redskins DVD of 'Beating The Blues' and a disc of songs by the pre-Redskins band No Swastikas.

I've been listening to 2 45s I got in the post this morning by Stereoscope Jerk Explosion. "Sitarmania" is a full-on psychedelic pop-art explosion, it conjures visions of Ananda Shankar, Brian Jones at the sitar on Top Of The Pops, Georgie Fame hammerin' away in black and white and everything else that was ever good about sixties music. Stereoscopic Jerk Explosion have taken a classic sixties club sound and made a genuine classic to sit alongside the masters. www.cosmicgroove.fr/siteweb/_home/tracks/track1.mp3"L'Homme Grenouille" begins comparatively as a more sedate and laid back groover sprinkled with layers of space organ and subtle sitar riffs, though having classified it as sedate - midway through comes the most ferocious Hammond organ I've heard for a long long time. Absolutely recommended. www.cosmicgroove.fr/siteweb/_home/tracks/track4.mp3"La Panthere Pop" is the second freaky pop outing from France's Stereoscopic Jerk Explosion, once again another great club tune, this one has more of a raw-garage sound where the wild Hammond organ playing is matched by blistering fuzz guitar riffs and a rhythm section of equal intensity. Pretty uncompromising and hardcore stuff - exactly what I have been crying out for when reviewing Hammond based music. www.cosmicgroove.fr/siteweb/_home/tracks/track5.mp3"La Promenade Des British" is a more leisurely take on the French 'soundtrack' genre, think cocktails on the French Riviera, a little sojourn where the Hammond meets the moog and quite simply put - get it on! www.cosmicgroove.fr/siteweb/_home/tracks/track3.mp3

I'll speak to my friends from Insurgence about that release, thank you for the info!
Lately I've had Union Made's - "Hard Grace" and Brigada Flores Magon's s/t cds on my stereo and the Loikaemie/Menace split 7" on the turntable.

I'll speak to my friends from Insurgence about that release, thank you for the info! I'm not sure if the DVD release is still going ahead as it's about 18 months since I last heard from them. But Films At Work and Martin from the Redskins have given them the go ahead to release 'Beating The Blues' on DVD. For those of you who have never seen the 'Beating The Blues' video before it original came out in 1984. It features 5 live tracks (Lean On Me, Reds Strike The Blues, Kick Over The Statues, Unionize and Keep On Keepin' On) recorded at the ICA in London on in January 1984. The version of 'Keep On Keepin' On' is slightly different to the single as some of the lyrics were changed when the miners strike started in May 1984. The video also includes interviews with Redskins Chris Dean & Martin Hewes and also members of the audience which includes Billy Bragg & Wiggy.

on the stereo: The 'Tone's "Here's another reason to believe..." Great cd--leftist politics, power-pop/punk with some ska and reggae mixed in (ex Thatcher on Acid members). I highly recommend both their cds: (1) Wide Eyes and Nonsense (though uneven, has some great songs including a tribute to Pauline from the Selecter) and (2) Here's another reason to believe in rock n roll (solid throughout with the marxist edict "from each according to his ability; to each according to his need" as the chorus to the punk-rocksteady tune-"Metropolitan caff").

Had Phyllis Dillon's "Midnight Confessions" album on the other night...but I've also had Desmond Dekker's "You Can Get It If You Really Want : A Definitive Collection" double cd set on as well.

I'm currently listening to 'In the Studio' by The Special AKA. Jerry Dammers may have written the song 'War Crimes' nearly 25 years ago. But it could have been written this week with all the trouble in the Middle East at the moment. WAR CRIMES:Bombs to settle arguments, the order of the boot Can you hear them crying in the rubble of Beirut? I can still see people dying, now who takes the blame? the numbers are different, the crime is still the same From the graves of Belsen where the innocent were burned To the genocide in Beirut, Israel was nothing learned? I can still hear people crying, now who takes the blame? The numbers are different, the crime is still the same Bombs to settle arguments, the order of the boot From the graves of Belsen, to the ruins of Beirut I can still see people dying, now who takes the blame? The numbers are different, the crime is still the same
