I keep a mix in my car, as my stereo is currently reserved for toddler friendly music. Right now it's Leadbelly, MDC, The Mob, Amebix and The Bastards. I like the fast punk and hardcore stuff for driving in the winter, it just suits the landscape somehow. In the summer I'll be back to Madness, Desmond Dekker and of course the 'Skins. As noted elsewhere, pub rock is never far from my stereo as well.

Did you know I used to work down the pit(coal mine) with Mensi and original drummer Decca Wade way back when they had just started out.

Did you know I used to work down the pit(coal mine) with Mensi and original drummer Decca Wade way back when they had just started out. Did you know that Mensi has just left the Angelic Upstarts? The band are still gigging though with a new singer. But Decca Wade is the only original member left in the band now. Here's a few of my favourite videos of The Upstarts - Jarrow Woman: youtube.com/watch?v=eYXL2D9yvGUSolidarity: youtube.com/watch?v=1rJfv0zVnwUWoman In Disguise: youtube.com/watch?v=D6nKlE1LCtw

If it wasn't for the Angelic Upstarts, I wouldn't be on this message board, period. They introduced me to leftist politics in a way that I could get through my shaven head...from them I discovered the Redskins etcetera. The youtube videos are great fun.

The Clash - Bankrobber www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ609GxVmoMPerhaps my favourite Clash song. It's just brilliant. This one also always seems to bring me up when I'm down and out. A lifetime serving one machine is ten times worse than prison...They don't make music like this anymore.

Currently listening to the new album from Amsterdam 'Arm In Arm'. It's a great album but it seems that there isn't as much political stuff on this album as there was on the last album 'The Journey'.

Sharon Forrester's "Sharon" (Vulcan, 1974). I'd never heard it until yesterday, but what a record: rocksteady with lots of soul influence.

Anyone know what's happening with Mensi. Top bloke. I don't think even the remenants of AU are playing, unless it's abroad. (Bazza you're up that way?) Listening to Cock Sparrer's new album, Here We Stand. More singalong stuff, sounding a lot like every 70's punk band but managing to pull it off. They always make me want to know exactly where they stand!

Stan...I "spoke" with Gaz Stoker online the other day (Red London/Red Alert/Rebels/Upstarts) and according to him Mensi is up to this and that, I think he does building contracting as a day job.
I'm not sure what Cock Sparrer stand for exactly. If you mean politics I'd say their apolitical leaning towards a bit reactionary....useta love them myself but I have to say I feel a bit "whatever" about them now.
