Hi there I'm looking to get hold of Tel Sutton from an old Doncaster band called The Way. Tel.... I had a cassette of your band many years ago but have lost it over time. If possible I'd like to get hold of the tracks again (Back To The Homelands etc...)! Bazza told me that you come on this forum quite a bit, so I thought I'd give it a try. Cheers Tel Jon Clay ex-Ferrymen www.myspace.com/londonsoulie

Hi... nice that you remember us...
The Good News - Will rip the MP3s (Seventeen 'studio' recordings in total and one live track from YTV's 'Calendar' featuring The Jam's Tracie Young) and send em to Bazza. Could scan some pics an artwork too if you want.
The Bad News - Unfortunately, not all the remasters came out intact namely the tracks 'Homelands' (the one you mentioned) and 'Religion' (our personal favourite and probably the one whose lyrics are still relevant 20 years on). We had to have the master tapes slow-baked in an oven for two weeks before transfering plus five of the tracks were mastered on Sony Betamax Digital and tracking down a machine took yonks. Needless to say we still have the recordings on cassette but it's not the same as hearing them from the master.
Small fact - did you know that the were produced by Angelic Upstarts' Mond Cowie..? We asked him because we liked New Model Army's 'Vengeance' lp. He stayed in my brother's bed in our shared bedroom whilst we did the recordings going 60 miles back and forth to the studios in Hull everyday - for £200. Now that's the kind of producer all bands should have. Great bloke too.
