Thankyou for cheering up a dull monday evening. Downloaded and listening now. Reminds me I need to get my Redskins 12"s out of the loft and onto the iPod. Out of interest will the band see any royalties from this album? Also during the miners strike there was a benefit album brought out that I think had a Redskins track on but definitely had a Chumbawumba track on called Fitzwilliam? I had it and lost it. Do you remember what it was called?

Do you remember what it was called? I paid the songwriters fees for using the Redskins songs to MCPS (Mechanical Copyright Protection Society) www.mcps.co.uk They sort out who owns the songs and the money is fowarded to them. I have 2 miners benefit records - The 'Wake Up' EP which features 6 tracks and included the Redskins cover of 'Levi Stubbs Tears' and the 'Here We Go' album. Neither records feature Chumbawumba. Unless they recorded under a false name as a lot of artists on the 'Here We Go' LP remained anonymous due to contractual reasons.

Do you remember what it was called? I've just had a look at the Chumbawamba discography and the record you are looking for is called 'Dig This: A Tribute To The Great Strike'. Here is what it's says about the record on their site Dig This: A Tribute To The Great Strike V/A LP FORWARD 002 - Forward Sounds International Limited Tracks: The Police Have Been Wonderful; Fitzwilliam Notes: The Police Have Been Wonderful features Margaret Thatcher on vocals and Neil Kinnock on lead guitar

I'm glad you like the Redskins tribute. Negu Gorriak's version of Unionize is great. You should try to track down a copy of their last album "Salam, Agur". This features covers versions by bands which influenced Negu Gorriak. As well as the Redskins cover the band also cover songs by The Clash, Public Enemy, Minor Threat, Bob Marley, The Who, Dead Kennedys, Ottis Redding & N.W.A. Negu Gorriak's singer Fermin Muguruza was supposed to be recording a cover of "Turnin' Loose" for the Redskins tribute but couldn't find the time as he was on tour. It was a shame as I'm sure he'd of done a great version of it. Kortau was the early Fermin Muguruza´s band and was very influencied by The Redskins, musical and aesthetically. Etxerat! (To Home!) is a song that perfectly could be made by The Redskins, of fact Kotartu name The Redskins in their lirycs and the intro is Unionize anthem. Lyrics: ZE ARRAIO MOTELLAK JARRI FRESKATZEN SAGARDO BOTEILAK EMAIOK KAÑA SAKAIOK FUERTE BAGOAZELA ETXERAT! ZENBAT DENBORA! ETA ABENTURA! KILOMETROTAN ZER ESAN GURE FURGOIAN ETENGABEAN REDSKINSEN KANTUA: TXEKI, TXEKI, TXEKI, TXEK, TXEK, TXEK A ZE SORPRESA! EZ DA MUGITU! SASIZKO MUGA ALUA MENDI ZELAIAK FABRIKAK ERE ETA HORMETAN AFIXAK ZURIKERIEN TXAPELDUN HORIEK BOTUEN TRUKE AGURRA ETZAIGU AXOLA ETXERAT GOAZ DOAZELA PIKUTARA. English: WHAT HAPPENS UNCLES, TO SET TO REFRESH THE BOTTLES OF CIDER. GIVE HIM CANE, PUT HIM LOUDLY, THAT WE GO HOME! WHAT A LOT OF TIME! And IN THE HEAD A LABYRINTH OF ADVENTURES! WHAT TO SAY OF THE KILOMETRES... AND IN OUR VAN SOUNDING NON-STOP THE SONG OF THE REDSKINS: TXEKI TXEKI TXEKI TXEK TXEK TXEK SURPRISE GOES! I DO NOT KNOW IT HAS MOVED! THE FALSE STUPID BORDER. THE MOUNTS, THE MEADOWS, THE FACTORIES ALSO. And IN THE WALLS THE CARTELS OF THE CHOICES. THE CHAMPIONS OF THE DIRT GREET US. ASKING US In exchange I VOTE. BUT IT CANNOT EVEN FUCK US, BECAUSE WE COME BACK HOME, THAT GO AWAY TO THE FUCKING SHIT. Fermin Muguruza and Negu Gorriak in the early 90´s In this big image can see to Fermin Muguruza´s brother with a The Redskins´t-shirt in the 80´s.
