Having just found out about this band I thought I'd post some information on them. Raj - The Magitones was the band Martin Bottomley formed after the Redskins. The line up included Martin (bass), Raj Pereira (keyboards) and Red Roger Milton (sax). Does anyone know who the other members were?
Raj - The Magitones recorded a few tracks but only one "It's A Funny Old World" was ever released. This track came out in the early 90s on an artists against the poll tax compilation entitled "The Rise Of The Phoenix". This was released by Optimum Records which was ran by Ronnie Flood and came out on LP (cat no. OTM 001) and CD (cat no. OTM 001CD).
This is what Martin had to say about the band -
The band was simply myself and some mates. The Raj of the title was my mate Raj Pereira who is a keyboard player. The title is a pisstake because in the Blues Brothers the original band members play in a 'lounge band' called Murph and the Magitones. Murph was the keyboard player...hence Raj and the Magitones. The line up ended up as 2 vox, keys, bass, drums, guitar, percussion and two piece brass section. I have other recordings but there were no other releases. Maybe we had a track called 'Rise' released on a RAR album in the early 90s by the same chap Ronnie Flood. Anyway, thats about all I can remember now.
