I don't know much about Japanese punk. But there used to be a great Ska band from Japan called The Ska Flames. Does anyone know if they are still playing?

yes, they're still playing but not a very impressive band these days. i think their popularity has passed its peak long time ago since Gaz Mayall flattered them into playing on the English scene in the mid '80s. they're surely the oldest Japanese ska band though. you can see their flyers and record sleeves at: www.skaflames.net/j/bio1.htm

That's a shame. I wonder why it's never been released on CD in England? I have a few of The Colourfield's songs on a Terry Hall CD comp. While nowhere near as good as The Specials I liked them better than Fun Boy 3.

that's very surprising. someone is selling that CD secondhand on the amazon.co.jp's market place. i don't know if a person outside Japan can buy it or not though.

Doesn't look like I can order it which is a shame as it's only about £10. I've tried but just keep getting the following message -
