Any fans of the band Love on here?
I was excited to read in the new Mojo magazine about the new line up of Love that Arthur Lee was putting together with plans of a European tour this summer and a new album. Then I read this sad news on the Love messageboards -
Arthur Lee from Love has recently been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and has undergone 3 weeks of aggressive chemotherapy. Doctors are hopeful for a full recovery, but Arthur still faces more chemo, extensive hospital stays, and a possible bone marrow transplant. Arthur Lee has no health insurance to cover his growing (over $100,000+) medical bills.
To help cover his medical expenses, Spaceland Productions, Bruce Solar from The Agency Group, and Mark Linn from Delmore Recording Society are putting on a benefit concert / tribute for Arthur.
The concert will be held in America late May / early June with the line up determining the location. Artists so far confirmed include X, Calexico, and Cake. Baby Lemonade are also available to back up any singer and there will be a string section as well. All proceeds will go towards Arthur's medical expenses.

Arthur Lee has no health insurance to cover his growing (over $100,000+) medical bills. Well, that's America for you - billions of dollars for that disaster in Iraq but none for a national healthcare plan that would help our citizens. Get well, Arthur. You're a genius.

Someone on the Love message board got an email off Michael Stewart-Ware (drummer on the Love albums Da Capo & Forever Changes) saying a reliable source told him that Arthur received a bone marrow transplant a few days ago and doctors say his prognosis for a complete recovery is excellent. There's some benefit gigs planned for Arthur Lee - Click here for more detailsI've also heard that the band Shack will be setting up a benefit gig for Arthur Lee in Liverpool.

Who do a pretty cool cover of "A House Is Not A Motel", coincidentally. Robert Plant also covered that song the other year. It was the b-side to his Morning Dew single.
