hi I'm Pixie and I stumbled across this site a few days ago. I used to be called Dagenham Pete and was the Redskins first roadie. don't know what else to say.

Hi! Good to have you on here.
I've heard the name Dagenham Pete mentioned before. Possibly in fanzine or music mag article on the Redskins. How long did you work with the band for? Any interesting stories to tell? I'd love to hear them.

Any interesting stories to tell? I'd love to hear them. I found out about the site when looking up Peel sessions on google. I'm doing backing vocals on the first session, all i remember of the day is that it took Nick about 6 hours to set the drumkit up leaving only 6 hours to record 4 tunes it was also the first time the band used horns. I worked for the band for about a year and I have to say I was the worst roadie ever. I first met Chris on the Liverpool-Blackpool right to work march in 1981 and we got on really well, the band were still living in York at the time, but we arrange to meet up when they moved down to London. There was a real symmetry that the first Redskins gig was on the round London right to work march in1982.origanally Madness were due to headline but pulled out at the last minute,so we headlined with Alexi Sayle supporting. I'll try to remember some interesting stories and post them up.

So the Redskins first gig was on the Right To Work march? As I have the following gig down as their debut - www.geocities.com/neither_washington_nor_moscow1/debutgig.jpgI don't suppose you have any tapes of No Swastikas? As I know that the band recorded a few demos but I've yet to hear anything by them. Do you know what happened to Nick after the Redskins? As I don't have any information on him after he left the band.

The first line of the gig review says it was a right to work gig,so it was the same gig. I used to have a couple of No Swastikas tapes, but they are long gone, one borrowed and never given back and the other eaten by a crappy cassette machine.I've no idea what happened to Nick as I some personal problems that meant I lost touch with the band for a while and when I reappeared he had left,I never found out the reason although Chris and Martin were both in the SWP and Nick wasn't and this had sometimes caused a few arguements,so that might have had something to do with it.
