Memories of years gone by, dashed hopes & a dream that died. It's coming up to nearly 30 years since the Redskins played their last ever gig and I have decided to close down my Redskins fan site at www.redskins.co.uk Moonfruit where I host the site is getting rid of their free web service on 1st September and I feel the time is right to close it down. The Moonfruit site was always meant as a temporary one when Yahoo closed Gocities in 2009 but as time went on I just couldn't find the time to get all the old info back online. I would have liked to have seen a proper reissue of the Redskins album which included 'The Crack' which Universal decided to miss off on the CD, especially as it was the albums 30th anniversary this year. But I guess somethings aren't meant to be. I'd just like to thank all the people who helped out with the site over the years and all the bands/artist who contributed to the Redskins tribute EP & CD that I put out.
Just to add my voice. Maybe my favourite band when I was a student in the 1980s. Gave me a lot of pleasure and the site has been a good resource to get hold of some rare stuff. I have a few tapes of gigs from 1984-1985 recorded myself. In the folks' attic at the moment. Will see if I can get them converted to mp3 and seed them. No way that is going to happen before this site closes down at end of August, but PM me (assume you can do that through this site?) if you want me to let you know when I can do the conversion. Would be happy to give the tapes to someone who is more familiar with the conversion process.
This forum will still be online when the website closes as it is hosted on Proboards rather than Moonfruit. What I will do next month is set the www.redskins.co.uk link to go directly to this forum rather than the site on Moonfruit which will close on 1st September.
Keeping the forum open means that I can email members if the Redskins album finally gets a reissue or any other important news about the band. At the moment I know that there's an offer on the table from AGMP for the band to get back together for a few gigs. I can't see it happening myself and I was told that Chris wasn't too keen when he was told about the offer but you never know.
