As far as I know the band was formed at Uni. I don't really know that much about them apart from what I've heard on the interview with the Redskins on Whatever You Didn't Get. In the interview Martin says that the band were a 4 piece then 2 member left and he joined Chris and Nick.
Someone called Mark Cranfield (AKA Billy The New Romantic from X Moore's Right To Work article) got in touch with me awhile ago saying that he went with Martin to his audition for No Swastikas. He was going to send me a family tree of York bands which included No Swastikas and the Redskins.
So Mark if you're reading this could you send me the York bands family tree as I'd love to see it.
I had an email off Redskins bassist Martin Hewes today regarding the other members of No Swastikas.
Martin said that Pete Clements was a member of No Swastikas before he joined. Pete played lead guitar and another guy called D.ick (I have to spell it like that otherwise it comes out as "thingy") played bass. They were both at York Uni and went back to London when their courses finished.
Saw somewhere that the demo was called "Bolshevik's Heart" so very much in the same vein as The Redskins. Has no one heard it?
I've also seen that on another website. I don't know where they got their information from but it is wrong. As far as I know No Swastikas only ever recorded 4 songs which are now in the hands of Insurgence Records. They were planning to release the songs as part of a Redskins DVD/ Redskins rarities CD, which I'd love to see but I don't think it's ever going to happen.
I did contact the website owner before about the demo but he told me that he didn't know anything about it as he got the information from another website. I've since asked martin about the demo and he said it doesn't exist.
